    AUDIENCE SIZE

With each school schedule being so unique, Mr. St. Jean is comfortable presenting to any group size ranging from single classroom to full school assemblies.

    PROGRAMS

    Grades K thru 2
A colorful, multi-media presentation using poetic rhyme and verse forms the foundation of a fun and memorable journey into the world of writing. Children will laugh, giggle, and most importantly, learn that writing can be fun during this well conceived presentation... which is topped off by the soon-to-be world famous Spooky Mooky Video! (Warning: Spontaneous Dancing May Ensue!)

    Grades 3 and Above
This exciting multi-media presentation introduces children to the world of writing by showing how a picture book is created... covering key steps such as the concept, the write, the re-write, story boarding, sketching, painting, and printing. The presentation deepens as Mr. St. Jean uses examples from his award winning Aidan of Oren trilogy to illustrate how concepts such as Good and Evil, Conflict and Resolution are necessary components of story telling. This presentation forms the foundation for optional writing workshops.

    ADDITIONAL PROGRAMS

Aidan of Oren - Valley of the Dragon

Writing Workshops (Grades 3 and Above)
These 45 minute sessions draw directly from the lessons learned during the assembly. Children are placed into small groups and treated to a progressive writing exercise that emphasizes team work and story structure while at the same time introducing the concept of genre.

    Family Evening Presentations
Fun and inspiring, this 30-45 minute presentation is where the parents get to see what has their children so excited. A multimedia presentation is used as the author takes parents and kids alike on a unique journey of life, destiny and finding one's true passion in the world of writing.

    Teacher Inservices
These 45 minute sessions take an in-depth look at writing workshop techniques with teachers, discussing in detail each point of the writing process (Beginning, Plot, Conflict, Resolution, etc), and covering intangibles such as participation, team work, and positive reinforcement.

A WORD FROM ALAN ST. JEAN

"As much as I enjoy helping young minds to tap into their imagination and teaching real skill sets for effective writing, I certainly understand that not every child will grow up to be a writer. That being said, all children need to learn at an early age that writing is essential to their future. My goal is to leave a positive imprint on each student, regardless of their eventual career path, that will leave them with a greater appreciation for writing and an increased passion for life. My greatest treasures are the letters and e-mails I receive telling me about children I've visited that, for the first time, are excited about writing... children that have a renewed sense of confidence that will benefit them for the rest of their life. As a writer, a speaker, and a teacher... this is my definition of success."
