Reading from their books, the Roops trace American history from Native Americans to today. Feel the rumble of stampeding buffalo, listen to the voices of the Pilgrims, follow in the footsteps of Lewis and Clark, read letters from Lincoln, and share Dr. King's dream. TEACHER INSERVICES Linking Literature to Science: Using their own classroom experiences, the Roops link literature to science in the classroom from K-6.A WORD FROM THE ROOPS "Who will take care of the lights?" Abbie asked. "Do I dare write Abraham Lincoln and suggest he grow whiskers?" Grace wondered. "Will the buffalo jump be a success?" Little Blaze worries. Such questions inspire us to write. Inspiration is a key factor in our books and our programs. As teachers and parents we know the power of the written word for children. Our books inspire children to reach beyond themselves as our characters find the courage to do something difficult or seemingly impossible. Likewise, our porgrams inspire children to put their thoughts on paper, to express themselves, to write stories. As award-winning educators we know how to inspire students. Let us inspire yours! FEES $399 per program with four programs per school day. Inservices or Family programs are $500. Keynote addresses are negotiable. Travel expenses are additional, but can be shared among schools when the Roops are on tour. The Roops do provide their books for school or library visits. Discounts are available for schools and libraries. SETUP EQUIPMENT REQUIREMENTS Large table for book displays.
