    GRADES

Kindergarten and up, college, and adult.

    LENGTH OF PROGRAMS

55 minutes, including time for questions.

    AUDIENCE SIZE

Cyd's dynamic program works for large auditoriums and also media centers. She's flexible!

    PROGRAMS

Cyd is a wonderful storyteller. Her program is energetic with hilarious tales accompanied by lots of colorful art which begins around 5 years old and ends with sketches on her drawing table last month! Students understand with visual proof that practice pays off! She relates to kids on their level, so they are laughing and learning and getting inspired to write and draw and try almost anything — even building a backyard flying machine!

    I Love You, Stinky Face
    Book Reviews

A typical day with Cyd: Most days go something like this: Three action-packed assemblies divided by ages, K-1, 2-3, 4-6. (This is always flexible.) Sometimes afternoon kindergarten students drop in with the older kids and sometimes high school art students drop in with kindergarten kids. Somehow it always works! After her fun art show, she uses the overhead projector to draw, (while telling one last unbelievable story!) The great thing is that every kid, even if they don't get to buy a book, goes home with something. Cyd encourages the teachers to make copies of the art for coloring later. In the hotel room the night before, or at lunch, or after school, Cyd signs all of the books with any personalization requested and also includes cute drawings — in every book! It takes a while, but the kids love it. It makes the day so special.

You might think 55 minutes is a bit long for kindergarten kids. Not a problem! One teacher recently said, "I just couldn't believe the kindergarten and pre-k kids — they sat like little statues right up until they burst out laughing. Cyd has a gift! During her very last story, we could have heard a pin drop in our auditorium!"

    ADDITIONAL PROGRAMS

Parent Night or Teacher Inservice Programs
(Available only in conjunction with a school visit or in Cyd's local area.)
One of Cyd's passions is getting parents to read to their children even when they are dead tired at night! Her parent night program is a big hit.

    Conferences
Cyd is an inspiring and entertaining speaker at teacher and reading conferences. She's presented at Illinois ASCD Kindergarten Conference, the Mazza Museum, the Grand Rapids Children's museum, numerous SCBWI conferences and regional reading conferences, library conferences, women's groups, high schools, colleges and many others. Her sessions are packed at the Michigan Reading Association each year.

    A WORD FROM CYD MOORE

"My everyday job is drawing picture books. But, I'm passionate about encouraging kids of all ages to love reading and learning, to be playful hard workers, and to believe big things can happen. Look at me — a little girl living in a crooked farmhouse in the woods of south Georgia grew up to have a tall stack of books with her name on the covers! How great is that!"

    FEES

$1000 plus expenses. Cyd travels from the Detroit, MI area to anywhere she's invited. She prefers booking several days in an area when traveling far. Please talk to her about getting other schools in the area interested. She pays a finders fee for additional bookings during the same week!

    SET-UP AND EQUIPMENT REQUIREMENTS

    • An empty media cart (Cyd brings a laptop and projector)
    • An overhead projector (or document camera) for drawing demos
    • A large screen (the bigger the better!) or a white wall
    • Paper or shades over bright windows, please
    • Extension cord
    • Happy excited kids and teachers!

    AUTOGRAPH INFORMATION

Cyd loves signing books, so everyone who orders a book will also get a fun picture inside! If you don't use a local bookstore or distributor for book orders, talk to Cyd. She can work with you to get the books ordered for the event.
