    TESTIMONIALS

"Thank YOU so much! Everyone at my school is STILL talking about what a great day we had when you were here. The Bailey School Kids and A to Z Mysteries continued to be the most popular books to check out all the rest of the year. They're always quite popular, but really....we couldn't even keep any in on the shelves! As soon as one came in, another kid would be really excited to take your books right back out again. You are very entertaining and I would highly recommend you to anyone that you'd like! You can certainly use me as a reference... and maybe in a few years when all our kindergarteners are in 6th grade, we'll have you back again!!

    "Thanks!"

"Kids and teachers as well as the principal are still talking about how awesome John Gurney's visit was to our school!! He has such a great demeanor with the kids. As a library media specialist, I was thrilled at his flexibility with the schedule as I had to manage his visit to the school and seeing everyone. We met in our library which is pretty large because I wanted to have each class to have a chance with him rather than doing a huge assembly. Whatever I gave him in terms of time, he worked with, tailoring his presentation. He was funny, very educational on the how illustrations are made and even had a chance to be interactive with the kids allowing them to draw along with him. He also did a caricature per class and the kids got such a kick out of that. He signed books at the end of the day. It was truly wonderful and I would have him back in a second."

"Thank you so much for the wonderful presentations you made at Mashburn about your career as an illustrator and author. Our students loved it and were totally engaged! I am so glad our schedules meshed and we were able to have you here.

"I wanted to share one story in particular with you. Do you remember Victoria, the little girl who was hearing impaired? She was so excited that you spoke personally to her and wore her microphone. The next day she had a session at school with her special teacher (of hearing impaired students.) She told her teacher all about you, and insisted the two of them look up your website to find out even more about you. Your kind act of giving her attention and acceptance made a great impression on her. Both Victoria and her teacher asked me to let you know how much it meant to her.

"Thank you again for a great visit. Wishing you a beautiful spring!"

"Thank you for the wonderful visit last week. The students are still talking about your visit and the teachers have been telling me for the past week how much they enjoyed your presentations. According to the teachers it was the best Author/Illustrator Day we've had in years."

"I can't tell you what a great time we all had during your visit! The whole school is buzzing. What makes it even more wonderful is that the teachers and kids from all of the grades you presented to think you are wonderful; often it is the youngers or the olders, but rarely both. Thank you so much for your energy, your knowledge of kids (evident in the way you tweaked your presentations to match their age and developmental level), your obvious enjoyment of children, and, of course, the opportunity to witness your skill and talent first hand. I also appreciate how easy you have been to deal with and how helpful your Web site was as I prepared for your visit. In short, you run a class act!"

"Again, thank-you for the wonderful day!! I heard from many teachers and the children definitely were engaged and that was what I hoped would happen. You had them mesmerized and totally engrossed in what they were doing. I have never seen these children so involved that you could actually hear a 'pin drop'. There were so many kids in a room and it was silent. that speaks so well for you!!! You were great!!"

"An even bigger thank you for visiting our school last week! I have heard nothing but rave reviews from teachers, students and parents regarding your presentations at NHS. Comments like 'his drawings are so cool!' and 'he was so funny!' were heard by students. Teachers noted that you were incredibly inspiring, and had that magical combination of not only being outstanding in what you do, but presenting it to students in an entertaining and engaging way."
